Johny Cash... A true Country legend

Johny Cash? Who is he? Well, I came accross his name during the holidays on the Oprah Winfrey Show. She did a show on a upcoming movie called Walk the Line starring Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Whitterspoon. They did an autobiography of Johny Cash's life and his wife's life, June Carter.

This guy is a country singer starting in the 1960's. Yes long before my time. Hehe! But somehow I have gotten comfortable with his songs. My mom doesn't fancy him but she knows I memang have a soft spot for legends like Elvis, Ritchie Valens and James Brown. You can search online for more info about this singers. Legends man! Remembered forever! I imagine them playing songs up in the sky in heaven.

I began downloading Johny Cash's songs and doing some research on Wikipedia of who this singer is. He has quite a deep history. But, after reading his life from start to end, you get to feel sad. You get to feel how his life was like. His problems. His sorrows. His loss.

Well, after listening to him for sometime now, I don't feel bored. His songs are mostly about his life and ups and downs. Something we all go through. Life is tuff. But, we have to carry on fighting to achieve our dreams and goals! Some of his songs also are happy songs.

By the way, I ain't the only guy who likes this 60s singer. I found a classmate who also likes his songs! So next time, u think ur odd, look closely. Their could be simmilar people out there like you. Haha!

Snake... snake... snake!!!

It was my call on an old friend, Mr. Ariff to meet up for some tea at Subaidah. We had a great conversation on life, love and money!

On our trip back to Bkt Beruang, I was driving with Ariff at the co-drivers seat, we stumbled upon a long slithering creature moving at the side of the road near the Police HQ junction. Me in my excited voice yelled... "Snake, Ariff!" I turned into the Police HQ and alerted the police at the pondok with Ariff supporting my statement to the police.

We then returned to the spot to have a better look. We were bored and needed some excitement... Haha! Waiting for almost 10 minutes, we wondering when on earth is the BOMBA gonna get here. So we semangat gile drove to the BOMBA which is like 2 minutes drive to make a report.

Returning to the scene again, the snake had dissappeared. The BOMBA came in the van. They searched the area finding the snake in darkness with the help of a high powered torch-light. BINGO! They found it. It had crossed the stream to the side of the Police HQ. They caught it and had brief chat with us. I was hoping for a medal! Haha! In my dreams! But in the conversation, one of the fireman mention it's quite normal to find these creatures. There are so many that some are chopped up at the Zoo and fed to the lions and tigers!

The guys you see here are not me and Ariff lah though we could have done that... huhu... it was the firemen. They were checking the length and specie. It was a ular sawa measuring around 6 feet in length.

We later made our way back home.

Returning home to Penang in 2006!

Yes. The finals were all over. Was a bit worried about A.I. cause was freaking hard. Lyn and I went to see Mr. Kau, AI lecturer, to bodek him if he will look after our results. Like has if it would work but we were desperate. Haha! He mention that base on what he had marked he said he and the panel of lecturers would be a little linean this year.

Results came out and thank God I pass!!! Haha! Actually happy to see my other friends pass too. Coz last sem was really hard especially AI and System Reliability for my friends who took.

The holiday began by parking my car at my aunt's house in Subang before leaving with my sis in her car. It was a nice drive. I made her drive all the way back actually. Hahah! I was sleeping. =P

When we reached home, we were greeted by our parents. They were happy to see us especially me coz I kinda rarely go home. Hehe! My dad said to us no appointments until after family dinner at a hawker centre in Fettes Park. He wanted us to eat together after long time. The highlight of the dinner is not that I had to cancel my other appointmeants but the meal I ate. Oh it was to die for!!!! Soft meat! It's sooo soft yet yummy. It is good to clean the blood as it kinda detoxifies the blood. Turtle meat! Hahah! My mom said WWF gonna come after me but what the heck. They serve I eat mah! RM8 per bowl!

It was great being home. Dogs, Astro, birds, chickens... simply the air of Penang I told my sis. Hehe! That bad I miss Penang. It was in a very festive mood. A few days after the Gregorian New Year and can say Chirstmas to the coming of the New Lunar Year. Most of my friends were back. Though I had in mine meeting my Gurney Plaza friends but everyone like busy so I thought never mind lah. But met up with Bennett as u all know fromt the previous post. Haha! Went to Slippery Senoritas and coffee shops! Eat, eat and eat at coffee shops! It was great! Missed Penang food soo much! I loved this coffee shop on Macalister road, near Agora Hotel and it's in front of a Esso Station. Best oysters!! So big! RM 5 nia. Ok lah. Puas makan!

Aaah...not forgetting my Line Clear Nasi Kandar! Speechless. It's something they put inside that make people crave for it. As ussual go there I makan ayam goreng paha, telur sotong and bendi topped with kuah campur especially the kuah lembu!

I took this pic after eating at Line Clear. I shot this from accross the road. The road you see is Penang Road. Slippery Senorita is at the beginning of the road. At the end is Komtar.

Like most of my trips to Penang, I try to make it a point to go to Ayer Itam, the foot of the hill that goes to Kek Lok Si. In search of new things to add to my collection of goodies. I just like them and cannot get enough. I made my way to my aunt's friend's shop. He has been dealing with my aunt for many years. Sadly he does not have much to cater for a new generation of consumers like me. The stuff I want, he don't have. I know he may be upset coz I bought something from a store near to his coz he didn't have it. But what to do, I liked the previous shop, it had what I wanted so I bought from there. Buy a few la everytime I go. Price? Well, u gotta be good at bargaining. Huhu!

I spotted this iguana in the river near Ayer Itam. Really big. Normally can see some of them swimming in the river. Probably their natural habitat.

Living with family can be very much different when living alone like me in Malacca. U gotta divide time for family, friends and yourself! I ussually spent time with my parents coz I know I rarely go back and they kinda miss the times going out together now that their 3 children are big d. So their were trips to Pulau Tikus market, Georgetown, USM, and Teluk Bahang in Penang. My mom wanted to go to the new Giant Hypermart but we were uncertain of where it was located. If I am not wrong from what information gathered, the hypermart is located near PISA there. Oh not forgetting hanging out at my uncle's workplace in front of Gurney Drive! Damn cool! A great view of the sea front. His place is like a hangout for the old Pulau Tikus Seranis. After chatting with my uncle(family) for a few minutes more and more uncles(friends) came. Mostly my dad's friends lah. That age group. So felt like the rookie in the group. Interesting enough, I got to know more about them and some I had not seen in years. It was like going through memory lane.

Not forgetting my new dog! Benson. He has grown so well into a nice little dog from a little puppy! I love him sooo much! Has a really strong build! My dad named it after my first dog which I got when I was 1! I am quite happy! =)

It was great lah being in Penang after so long. 2 months considered long compared to the good old years when I use get up everyday and smell Penang air! Coincidently, I managed to finish Khor Cheng Kee's book of Penang called My Island in the Sun after almost 1 1/2 years in Penang. Nostalgic moment. Hehe! My dad got me a new one book called The Old Trams of Penang. Something about the old transport in Penang lah. I just read through a few pages. Nice old photos of Penang though.
